PRACTICAL DRIVING TEST.
Before you book your Driving Test you must have passed your Theory Test. It is recommended you only book your Driving Test with agreement with your Driving Instructor. The purpose of the Driving Test is to demonstrate to an examiner you are safe to drive on the roads by yourself unaided by your Driving Instructor or other qualified driver.
At the Test Centre you will meet the Examiner who will first check your documents and ask you to sign a declaration on the Test Report form. You will then lead the Examiner to your car. Before you enter the car you will have an eyesight test followed by two Safety Check questions. You will then enter the car and be given a briefing by the Examiner. You will then proceed with your Driving Test.
The DSA are the people who run the Driving Test.
You will be assessed on a test route which incorperates various road conditions including towns, rural roads, estates and dual carriageways. You will also be assessed on two manoeuvres and may also be asked to perform an Emergency Stop which is done randomly one in three tests. At the end of the test the Examiner will inform you whether you have passed or failed the test. This will be followed by a debrief. This will give you the opportunity to discuss aspects of the test with the Examiner if you so require.
