Important News.

The government is looking into the possibility of making the Driving Test more difficult to improve the overall standard of road safety. The options considered are as follows:-

Introducing safe driving to the school curriculum.

Recieve at least 120 hrs.of tuition before being allowed to sit the Practical Driving Test.

Increase the age limit that you will be allowed to drive a car from 17 years to 18 years old.

THE DRIVING TEST NOW.

Theory Test. Taken from age of 17 in two parts:- Part 1- Multiple Choice. Part 2 - Hazard Perception.

Practical Test. Eyesight Check / Safety Checks / General Driving Ability / Two Reversing Exercises / Emergency Stop.

THE PROPOSED CHANGES.

1/. Beefed up Theory Test.

2/. A more structured learning syllabus.

3/. Log Book:- drivers must master a series of skills including reversing manoeuvres before taking the Practical Driving Test.

4/. Each mastered skill or 'competance' must be signed off by a qualified instructor. Ticking these off will take about 1 year.This will leave the examiner in the driving test to concentrate on more safety critical issues such as dealing with junctions, roundabouts and moving traffic.

5/. Candidates then take the tougher driving test.

Whatever the government decide to do is good news if it is to improve road safety. It also means that now is the most cost effective time to learn to drive. Do not delay and book your driving lessons with Anston School Of Motoring.
